Q. When will the season start, when will we practice?
A. The Spring 09 season's first game is April 11th. Your coach will contact you with practice details by March 30th.
Q. How much is registration?
A. Registration is $75 for the Spring09 season, but there is an early registration discount of $10. Registration will close March 27th.
Q. Can I ask for a refund?
A. Yes, we will refund your fees less $20 before the season starts. No refunds after the season starts. Send refund request to rec@westlakesoccer.org.
Q. Do I need to register for fall and again in the spring?
A. The WSA has a split season. We play 8 games in the fall and 8 games in the spring, when you register for fall you are also
registered and paid for the following spring season.
Q. I did not register for fall but would like to play in the spring?
A. You can register for spring starting after January 10th. DO NOT REGISTER FOR SPRING IF YOU WERE REGISTERED FOR THE FALL.
Q. How do I pay for registration?
A. You can pay on line or mail in a check. Make checks payable to the WSA and mail to Westlake Soccer Association P.O. Box 45269 Westlake Ohio 44145.
Q. Do we practice and play games at the same field and times?
A. Fields may change depending on availability. A schedule will be posted.
Q. How are teams picked?
A. Teams are selected by mixing a few kids from each school and age. Spring registrations are added to fill out teams or new teams may be formed.
Q. When will I get a uniform?
A. Uniforms can be purchased from the WSA at announced sales before the season starts. Cost of a uniform is $24 for Pre-K through 4th grade programs and $20 for the 5th-8th grade program. Please make checks payable to WSA.
Q. Can I request the team I want my child to play on?
A. It is impossible with the number of kids and teams to honor all the request when building teams. Most often the request is for a particular practice night and that is not known until after the teams are made.
Q. My child cannot practice on his/her practice night what do I do?
A. Ask your coach to contact a team in your age group and see if they have a similar conflict and trade players, or practice with another team on the night that is convenient and play games with the team you have been assigned to. All trades need to be approved by the in-house commissioner.
Q. My child is very good for his/her age can they play up, or I want my kids to play together and they are in different grades?
A. All players will play in the appropriate grade level. This is a recreational league based on having fun.
Q. My child plays travel or is in the development program should we do both?
A. If your child enjoys in-house and looks forward to having fun in a less competitive environment then yes. If they play and dominate the game it probably is not doing them or the other kids any good. When playing in travel and in-house be aware that the player my get tired out and need a break and miss a game, make sure to communicate with your coaches so they can plan accordingly.
Q. Can I help at practices and games?
A. We encourage all parents to help out in any way they can. If you desire to coach on a regular basis or at games we need to register you as a coach. Ask your coach how you can help, they will appreciate it.
Q. What other areas of the association can I help with?
A. For the in-house program we are always in need of coaches. We also need field monitors, deputy commissioner, and field maintenance. Field monitors help organize game day. Deputy commissioners are there for communication to the coaches. Field maintenance is setting up fields, lining and trash removal. If you would like to get involved send and e-mail to rec@westlakesoccer.org. If you have questions for other areas of the WSA, please look at the list of board members to find their e-mail address.
Q. I have questions, who do I contact?
A. Your coach can answer most questions. If you have other questions, you can send an e-mail to rec@westlakesoccer.org. If you have questions for other areas of the WSA look at the list of board members to find their e-mail address.
